What is this building?

I took this early in the morning in Venice. I have no idea what this building is...I don't think it's a church but it's really ornate for such a small facade...

Trevi Fountain

A statue of Neptune, atop the Trevi Fountain. The Trevi is amazing during the day. It's even more dramatic at night, especially with the crowds that gather in front of it.

Rush Hour

Which would you pick? Sitting on I-5 or the Grand Canal? Yeah, me too. Shot in Venice, June 2005.

Lonely Seagull

I was going to post some more pictures from my trip to Italy but I'm out of town and only have access to the pictures currently on my laptop.

This is another picture from Luffenholtz Beach, taken in August of 2003. There's something intriguing about the seagull just standing there looking at the sea...

The Pantheon at Night

There is quite a nightlife in Rome (no wonder I enjoyed it so much)! All the monuments are lit up to very dramatic effect. It was fascinating to see how different things looked.

Tiber Island

This is the view of Tiber Island from the Ponte Garibaldi (Garibaldi Bridge). The bridge connecting Tiber Island to Trastevere is the Ponte Cestio, which dates back to the first century B.C.

St. Peter's Dome

This shot of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome was taken from the Pincio Gardens, above the Piazza del Popolo. It's one of the few spots where you can get a panoramic view of the city.

Manhattan Beach Pier

Sunset over the Manhattan Beach pier, taken a couple of days ago. It wasn't quite as dramatic as I'd hoped, but I like the effect anyway.

The Grand Canal

I took this shot of the Grand Canal in Venice from a water bus, as we passed under a bridge. The variety of colors, the boats and the oriental influence of the architecture really show how unique Venice is.

Quepos

It took an entire 36-exposure roll of film to get this shot but it was worth it! I took this off the coast of Quepos, Costa Rica in December 1996.

Yosemite

The Tunnel View of Yosemite Valley. El Capitan is on the left; Cathedral Rocks and Bridalveil Falls are on the right. Half Dome is visible in the distance.

El Porto

Taken February 2004 from the El Porto section of Manhattan Beach. Yes, this is the view I see everyday. OK, it's not always like this; I don't always see a seagull.

Venice at Dawn

Venice, Italy. Taken a couple of days after Anna and Basem's wedding in Rome. When I took the picture, I was so focused on capturing the scene with the seagull that I didn't even notice the guy in the window!

Near the Exedra

Piazza Della Repubblica, Rome. I think the combination of the elegant architecture and dramatic clouds juxtaposed with the modern traffic provides an interesting contrast in this picture. It's not the most amazing photo but I like it.

The Pantheon

And now for something completely different...Not ALL of my pictures feature lakes or oceans! The Pantheon was originally a Roman temple, dating from 27 B.C. and now holds services of the Roman Catholic Church. An amazing example of architecture that's lasted over 2,000 years.

Manhattan Beach Sunset 1

This was taken in August 2003 - the first summer after I moved to MB. Sunsets are usually beautiful here but they're rarely this gorgeous.
