There are a number of elements of this picture that I really like: the dramatic clouds and sunset, the collapsing wave, the surfer about to be engulfed by that wave. Almost feels like it could have been painted.

Just another quiet day at the beach last weekend.

Balancing the highlights and shadows of the flower was trickier than I expected but the result has an almost 3D quality to it.

Cosmos

Same idea as the last post...there was a slight breeze blowing though, which I think adds an interesting dynamic to this picture.

December Rose

I was playing around with depth of field and took this picture last weekend. I like the way the sunlight shines through the petals. The fact that the flower is just beginning to wilt adds an interesting element to the picture too.

38 Miles

This is the view from Manhattan Beach facing Catalina Island (faintly visible in the distance). It was a pretty clear day, considering that Catalina is 38 miles away.

A rainstorm hit Manhattan Beach in late November and the remaining clouds provided a beautiful sunset. I love winter in Manhattan Beach!
