Here's what I don't get: why do we build amazing aircraft with awesome capabilities, and then paint silly faces on them?

It's similar to one I took on Biscayne Bay. I like the simplicity of the composition.

I took this from the flight deck of the USS Midway in San Diego. The Midway has been decommissioned and is now a museum.

Schooner in San Diego

There's something graceful about sailing, especially in contrast to (the hint of) the aircraft carrier in the background.

Took this after a rain storm (obviously).

Just a simple shot of a seagull. I like the slight motion blur of the wings.

After The Sun Has Set

It's not the most dramatic picture but there's an intangible quality to this picture that reminds me of a painting.

Southland wildfires caused the reddish-gold layer above the horizon.

It's simple but I like the colors in this picture.

Back to the West Coast...Last weekend I got out and took some pictures as the sun was setting. I like the spray above the wave and the sun shining through the lip of the wave.

Biscayne Bay

Further out in Biscayne Bay, the water's a deeper, darker green.

Stiltsville

Another one of the few remaining Stiltsville houses. Most have succumbed to hurricanes and it's currently against the law to repair or rebuild them.

On Biscayne Bay

There are a number of these houses built on stilts in the shallows of Biscayne Bay. They date back to Prohibition and the area is called Stiltsville for obvious reasons.

I was really surprised at how green the water is off the coast in Miami.
