Mother Goose

There is some debate about whether or not this is the real Mother Goose. I'm going with real. After all, why not? She IS dead, isn't she? Posted by Picasa

The Neal Children

This is the gravestone of the four children of Andrew Neal, who died between 1666 and 1671. Their ages ranged from 3 days to 18 months. Posted by Picasa

Mrs Elizabeth Peck

She died in 1757, at the age of 39. The gravestones in the cemetery are fascinating. The decorative artwork is interesting, much of it almost child-like. Posted by Picasa

This statue of George Washington is in the Boston Public Garden...Do you think Bostonians are proud of their colonial heritage? Posted by Picasa

Everybody loves a balloon...

I came across this street performer in an open air shopping district in Boston. After the little girl's mother tipped him, the clown, in a very un-clownlike move, bent over and tucked the money into his sock. The whole scene was charming and cynical at the same time. Posted by Picasa

Massachusetts State House

Interestingly enough, the architect who designed the State House was self-taught; it was built between 1795 and 1797. Today's posting brought to you by the Encyclopedia Britannica... Posted by Picasa

Boston Public Gardens

If I had been in Boston a week or so later, I think the leaves would have been turning and this shot would have been really impressive... Posted by Picasa

I took this in Boston last week. I was there for a conference and managed to do a little bit of sightseeing. This is in the Boston Public Garden.

25,000 Feet

I took this on the flight home from Redding. It came out better than I expected, since it's a high contrast shot through the airplane window. Posted by Picasa

Supplicating Mantis

I took this picture in McConnell Arboretum, part of the Turtle Bay Exploration Park in Redding. Moments after I took this, the little guy flew away, probably to commune with his god... Posted by Picasa

Last Pic of Sundial Bridge (really)

Well, I wasn't going to post another picture of the bridge, but I liked this one too (even if the bridge is cut off). I have to admit that I probably wouldn't be posting this picture if the sky hadn't been so dramatic. OK, I'm done with the bridge now! Posted by Picasa

OK, this shows a bit more of the bridge... Posted by Picasa

Sundial Bridge

Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the Sundial Bridge is an actual sundial and is designed to be environmentally friendly so as not to disturb the nearby salmon spawning habitat. Plus it looks really cool. Posted by Picasa

View from Sundial Bridge

I haven't posted for a couple of days because I was out of town. The next few posts will be from my trip.

This is the Sacramento River, as seen from Sundial Bridge in Redding, CA. It's a very cool bridge - I'll post a picture of the bridge tomorrow. Posted by Picasa
